Comprehensive eye exams used to include bulky tabletop perimetry, but optometry and ophthalmology are changing fast. VR headsets are now an accessible, comfortable option for conducting accurate visual field exams. Marketing this device, along with its proprietary algorithm to assess eye health over time, is not as simple as leaning into branding or legacy status. Virtual Field is the first of its kind, but it remains a relative newcomer in eye health, so developing content means building up buy-in and establishing authority.
I worked closely with the team to develop a full suite of strategic content for decision-makers who are deeply sensitive to cost, device precision, and workflow disruption.
One of the most important projects I completed with Virtual Field is the 24-part Ultimate Exam Guide. In total, this 30,000-word handbook details the intricacies, applications, history, and how-tos for specific visual field exams like the 24-2C, Goldmann perimetry, EOM, and pupillometry. Other projects include:
- SEO-forward, in-depth blog articles addressing clinical relevance
- Conversion-oriented buyer guides
- Media kits, case studies, and statements
This project requires a careful balance of technical explanation, clinical credibility, and marketing insight for skeptical buyers who take eye care seriously.
